Item - Dining Chairs

Description - For the collector, we are proud to present this magnificent set of six dining chairs designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen and manufactured by Søborg Møbelfabrik. This prolific design duo produced some of the most interesting and functional Danish furnishings of the 1950s. This chair design certainly falls under that category.

Taking design cues from the American Shaker movement and adding their own Danish sophistication, Hvidt and Mølgaard-Nielsen have produced a chair that is elegant in proportion, retains a formal presence and is above all functional. Constructed of solid teak with a wound grass seating this design is particularly popular for its curved lipped back. Visible joinery adds interest to the design.

All six chairs have had one owner for their life and have been kept in superb condition. The wound grass seats were replaced in the early 1990s...giving them just enough time to gain a favorable patina. Each is free of breaks or cracks and is quite sturdy.

Each chair measures 18.5" wide, 17" deep, 30" high at the back with a 17" seat height.

Condition - Superb vintage condition with few flaws. Some minor expected wear but nothing egregious. No breaks to woven sections.

Price - $3,600/set
