Item - "Tech World" by John Roper

Description - Seen by thousands and formerly installed at the Ramada Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC, "Tech World" is a delicate balance between elegance of form and the rawness of material. Made of black iron and copper rods, this piece was assembled by highly regarded Long Island, NY artist; John Roper in 1989.

"Tech World" takes its cues from the brutal styles of popular 60s and 70s artists such as Curtis Jere and Marcello Fantoni. These artists shocked the world with their elaborate raw metal sculptures which directly impacted everything from the art world outward. John Roper's work takes these artistic themes and improves upon them to bring the medium to a new level.

This massive sculpture includes three individual sweeping elements. When assembled properly, these elements measure 4' high and 6' wide. The bottom element bears Roper's signature and the year 1989.

This piece has only had three owners and comes with our certification of authenticity. We contacted the artist and were met with positive remarks. Originally purchased for $20,000 by Ramada, this piece's value is estimated at between $6,000-$8,000 (estimate given by the John Roper's agent).
